A Red and White Weekend

We had a blast this weekend tailgating and watching the game at War Memorial.  The Hogs killed New Mexico so it was the perfect ending to a perfect day!!  We tailgated at our regular spot with Jason and Jules and then my Lilly team had a separate tailgate that we went to as well.  My partner @ work is Marcus Elliott, a former Razorback player who played under Lou Holtz, who was able to get us all into the player's club for the game.  Although we didn't stay for the whole game, it was a fun experience!  By 9:00 we were ready to head back to the house and put our feet up.  Here are lots of pictures of game day!!

I ran into my old boss (Lisa-R) from Staffmark.  Allison was on the management team with me.  It was SOOO good to see these two!!!  Lots of fun memories!

I am sure you all have seen this picture posted on FB, but it's amazing to me!!  How awesome to be able to honor the 10th anniversary of September 11 like this at War Memorial.  It gives me chills!!

It's hard to believe that it's been 10 years since that horrific event occurred.  Our church service was so good this morning and focused on how our world has changed since that moment.  We watched clips of what happened that day and I bawled like a baby.  Like you all, I can remember exactly where I was at that time 10 years ago.  I can remember walking into chapel @ Harding, and seeing that second plane hit the other tower on the big white screen that projected the news.  I couldn't believe it. It was extremely scary and I think we all had a feeling of violation seeing our country under attack that day.  I remember sitting in the student center for most of the day with so many others, crying and trying to tear my eyes away from this horrible day of terrorism.  My heart will forever go out to all those who lost their lives, those who gave their lives for others, and those who've had to live the past 10 years without their loved ones.  It was a day that our country was brought to our knees, but it was also a day that God brought us through.  I hope we are all continually praying for our country, it's leaders, and those that have such a hatred for the U.S.A.  May God continue to bless us all!!!

Random Chit-Chat

I have never in my life had trouble sleeping at night...until last night!!  I tossed and turned every hour on the hour and was wide awake in bed from 2:30 until 5:00, when Matt got up to get ready for work.  I think I have figured out the culprit...Allegra-D.  With the weather changing, I am starting to fight all this congestion and sinus crap.  I was being pro-active and thought it would be o.k. to take it around 4:00 yesterday afternoon - WRONG!!!!  OH this kid is tired today!!

On a fun note, I went to a Matilda Jane trunk show on Tuesday night and found this adorable dress for Miss Brynlee Claire.  Her birthday is coming up and I thought it was precious!  Lord help me if I have a little girl one day...I know where all my $$ will go!!

Matt and I are getting our fall pictures taken on Sept. 30th.  We finally got a dated nailed down!  I had no idea how hard it would be to plan things with him being a nurse at the hospital.  His schedule is made on a monthly basis (a little aggravating to me, but I guess I am spoiled with taking off whenever I want to.)  I am going to have to make some serious adjustments to the fact that he WILL have to work some holidays.  We are both so family-oriented and it's going to be tough not to have him there sometimes for special occasions.  I know...WAH WAH...that's the real world, Kia.  It may be the real world, but that doesn't make it easy.

I have recently been obsessed with decorating my house.  I am blaming it on the withdrawals that I was having the past two years because we were paying for nursing school and didn't have any extra cash! :)  Here are some of my favorites places that I have been frequenting...

Pottery Barn

Pier One

Notice I said "frequenting."  I did not purchase any of the above but have found some other cute little odds and ends.  And of course you can't forget the ole' Hobby Lobby!!  One could get lost in there for hours!!  I am sad that we don't really have any cute local stores that specialize in home decor - they're all chains.  I am however having fun adding a little bit here and there.

As I'm sitting here, I have a smile plastered on my face today because our Christmas vacation is now finalized.  I'll let the pictures do the talking...

Yep!!  You guessed it!!  Matt and I are off to New York City the week before Christmas!!  I am SUPER excited to see the big tree in Rockefellar Center, go ice skating, get hot cocoa at Serendipity, see the Rockettes, have dinner with friends, and do some shopping!!!  I am keeping my fingers crossed that Matt's work schedule will cooperate and we don't have any kinks in our travel plans.  A big SHOUT OUT to my beautiful cousin, KAYLA BETH, for letting us stay in her brownstone in Manhattan!!!  (serious cost-savings)  I can't wait to see her!!

Gotta get to work!!  Happy Thursday!!!

Labor Day Weekend

I love three day weekends!!  Matt and I had the best time on the lake in Rogers with lots of our family.  This was more than likely the last weekend we'd be able to get up to NWA for "lake season" and we enjoyed every minute of it.  Here are lots of pictures...

Lola and Barb

A little nap time for the boys...

Landon and Brandi were away celebrating their 4th anniversary, so Dale and Pat (Brandi's parents) brought the girls out for the afternoon :))

Time for a snack...

I stayed on the boat and watched this cutie-pie!!

She was totally entertained with this water bottle that had ice in it :)

Saturday evening everybody came back to Mom and Dad's to eat dinner and watch the HOGS game.  Jack and Patti and their crew got in town just in time for some food and fun.  We had a great time watching the game until it became a blow out.  The Oregon/LSU game took precedence after that.  (The hubs was happy :))  Aunt Patti has a birthday coming up, so we celebrated her 50th with a big cookie.

Singing 'Happy Birthday'

Sunday, the weather was a little cooler and the water was pretty choppy in the morning so we didn't head out until after lunch.  Aunt Vicki and Uncle Gary came over from Tulsa to join in on the fun.

Love these girls!!

We've been out on the lake a lot this summer and have loved every minute of it.  Fall is my favorite time of year, but for some reason I am still wanting a little bit more of summer!  Although I have to say, the weather on Monday was amazing!  After a big breakfast with the family, Matt and I left to come back to Little Rock.  I stopped by one of my favorite stores on the way out of town and bought a couple of things to decorate for Halloween. Yes, I know it's over a month away but I have been reading some blogs that are motivating me to decorate my house more through the different holidays and seasons.  How cute are these?!?

This is an adorable centerpiece I am using on one of our coffee tables.

These spiders (not the hats) are going on our hearth in front of the fireplace. They're actually pretty big!

My sweet mom also picked up this adorable front door HOGS ornament for football season and surprised me with it this weekend.  I love it!!!

(All of these I found @ Signed, Sealed, Delivered - "like" them on FB and you can see everything they have.)

I am SUPER excited about the Razorback game here in Little Rock this weekend. We (of course) will be tailgating and cheering on those HOGS.  The weather prediction is a high of 82!!!  It's going to be perfect!!

Thankfully it's already Tuesday and this week will be a short one!!  Hope everybody had a great holiday weekend!!
