Morgan Wallen in Dallas

Matt and I celebrated 15 years of marriage this year!πŸ₯‚

Since the kids had activities the week of August 1, we decided to spend the weekend before in Dallas. We drove down Thursday and saw Morgan Wallen perform at AT&T stadium.  He was incredible!  (Funny story…we bought the tickets not knowing that Kyndall and Blake ALSO were going to be in Dallas then. They were at the concert with us and we spent the rest of the weekend meeting up with them and the Boatright’s.

Matt and I stayed at Hotel Zaza. We slept late, lounged poolside all day, and then went to dinner at Via Triozzi in Greenville. It was delicious. There were pictures of the villa that I lived in when I was at HUF in Florence, Italy on the walls. It was a beautiful atmosphere with even better company. Afterwards, we went out in downtown Greenville for a little bit before heading back to Zaza.

Making fun of Matt’s pirate face in the previous picture.

Saturday, we headed to the stockyards in Ft. Worth for the rodeo. It was a lot of fun! I’m probably the furthest thing from a cowgirl, but we had a great time. πŸ˜‰

So thankful for a few days away.❤️

Annie Jr.

This summer Reese participated in the Perry Ryan Theater Camp.  It was a first for her and she was taking a step outside of her comfort zone.  She had the BEST time and we are SOO proud of her! She sent in an audition tape and was cast as one of the orphans in Annie Jr.  It was a strenuous 2 weeks of learning choreography and songs from 9-5, but she never once complained about the long hours and loved being with friends every day.

There were 5 kids in Hyde Park that did the camp and the carpool was one of the best parts. πŸ˜‰  Sis knocked it out of the park performing and we are so thankful for family, neighbors, and friends who came to cheer her on. You were awesome, Reese!!

Brooks is 10!!

My baby is double digits this year.  I cannot believe you are 10, Brooks Vaughn. This year we gave you the option of a birthday party with friends, or going to a KC Chiefs football game. Of course you chose wisely, and we will be making memories cheering on the Chief's in 2 weeks.

You love all things sports. ⚽️πŸˆπŸ€ Playing on travel baseball again last year was a lot of fun.  You really started to grow into your own playing center field and pitching. We’re playing again this year on the same Prospects team and are gearing up for fall tournaments. You’re also playing Upward football (because you don’t want to be tackledπŸ™ŒπŸ»), and are thinking about BYA basketball.

We have to keep you busy in all these sports, or you would just sit in front of the Xbox and play video games for the rest of your life. πŸ˜‚ You are still taking piano as well (which you don’t truly love, but do so to make your Mama smile.)

We are so proud of you Brooks Vaughn.  Not just proud of your academic accomplishments and extra-curricular talents, but proud of who God is molding you to be.  You are kind, loving, trustworthy, and a good friend to so many.  You’re always encouraging others and if there is ever a problem that you seem worried about, the first thing you say to me is, “Mom, we need to pray about this.”  We were lying in bed the other night, turning on T.O.T.S. (Bc that’s your favorite thing to watch before bed), and the Democratic National Convention was on t.v.  You looked at me and asked who would be our next President. I told you that I didn’t know, but I hoped that they would change policies for the better. You looked at me and grabbed my hand and then said, “We should pray about that.” Then you quietly said a 20-second prayer and it brought me to tears.

It brought me to tears because you get it! At the age of 10, you know how important it is to bring our requests to God. To thank Him, to pray when we don’t know what else to do, and to trust Him with all our hearts. ❤️

We love you so much, sweet boy!  Happy Birthday!!

And no birthday is complete without a birthday dinner at Marketplace with the fam!

Santa Rosa Beach

In July, I flew to Santa Rosa Beach with my favorite high school girls.  Lindsey, Leslie, Tara, and I had the BEST time! We stayed in a condo right on the beach, spent our days under the umbrella with our toes in the sand, and laughed until my body hurt.

We ate at Shunk Gulley Oyster one night, and stayed in and cooked the other two. It was a quick weekend away, but so perfect. Before we flew out on Sunday, we ate in Seaside at The Great Southern Cafe (one of my favorites) and did some shopping. It was the best weekend with lifelong friends.

The Best Memories with the Best of Friends❤️
