A Wonderful Weekend

We had a great time around the house this weekend!  Friday, while Matt was at work, Brittney came by to meet Reese.  I work with Brit and absolutely love this girl.  It was so nice to catch up and visit.  Saturday morning, we tuned in to Game Day, as always.  Normally, we would have been down @ War Memorial cheering on our HOGS, but with a 6-week old baby and temps in the low 50's, it was a no-brainer...we'd be missing the game.  :)

Saturday night, we went to Clint and Sarah's for dinner.  Clay and Jeni were in town from Shreveport, with Kes, for the game.  We were so happy that they got to meet Reese.  Clint grilled some ribs and Sarah made delicious baked beans and mac n' cheese.  It was great food but even better company!!

But even more excited to play hide and seek with 'Uncle Matt'

Sunday, we went to late service at church and then came back to the house.  'Uncle Joe' was in town for the game too and stopped by to meet our little munchkin.

Sunday night, Matt made a fire, I made some delicious tomato soup, and we curled up for a quiet night in.  It was perfect!  Today Reese and I got out and did some shopping, had lunch with David and Jules @ Jason's Deli, then came home to a clean house.  (Our housekeeper is a lifesaver for this girl! I would gladly give up groceries for a week in order to have someone clean my house!! :))

Matt works tomorrow and Wednesday, so we'll be running errands for the next few days and entertaining ourselves.  Looking forward to lunch with my sister (she's been on a cruise in Mexico!)  We're happy to have her back in the states!

Happy Monday!!

Our Little Reese's Buttercup

Yes, in case you were wondering, this is one of our nicknames for our sweet baby girl.  :)  This week has been great because Matt was off work on Monday and Tuesday, so Reese got to soak up some time with her Daddy for 5 days in a row!!  Here's what we've been up to....

  • Game Day ALL day on Saturday.  We LOVE watching some football!
  • We made it to early church on Sunday!!!
  • We celebrated Charla's birthday with brunch at Yaya's after church.
  • I had my 6-week follow-up appointment on Monday with Dr. Phillips.  I've been cleared to start running and can do pretty much anything I want now.
  • Matt and I enjoyed lunch at Sushi Cafe' on Tuesday after picking up Reese's birth certificate.
  • Wednesday, Matt had to work so Reese and Mommy went shopping at Babies R Us and LOFT.
  • Thursday, I had to get another spot on my back removed that could possibly be skin cancer. However, the day turned out to be great because Reese got to meet Kinsey, Tara's sweet little girl!  Here's hoping that these two will get to go to school together one day ;)

  • Today, I braved the mall and bought a couple shirts for Matt and bought Reese some luggage.  We're making a trip to NWA next weekend and I am so excited!!!  Let's hope baby girl travels well!

We're all curled up here at the house tonight, LOVING the cold weather and waiting on Daddy to get home from the hospital.  Bring on the weekend!!

October Treats

Well, when one sits at home most days with a newborn, there are a few things to do while she catches some zzz's.  Nap, catch up on the laundry, read, and what I seem to be doing a lot of...shopping online.  I have made a little wish list of some things I am loving right now!!

Tall chocolate brown riding boots. These are both Fryes, and I love them.

A Burberry scarf.  I've been wanting one for a while.

Loving all the talk about boot socks and will definitely be investing in some!

I am loving all the adorable holiday clothes for kids that are everywhere!  We're headed to NWA in a few weeks and I can't wait to go to some of the local children's boutiques.

Nude Pumps...these are on my Christmas list ;)

Lately...

Our week has been a good one!  Reese and I were out and about on Monday morning doing a little shopping since our housekeeper was cleaning.  We met Julianna, Corie, and David for lunch at Zaza's and then came home for a nap.  Reese was excited to sport her onesie from cousin Kayla.

I hope she loves NYC as much as her Mama does!

Tuesday, Reese and I spent the day at home.  She's been fighting a little congestion and stuffiness, so I wanted to stay in for the day.  I did order our birth announcements and I'm so excited to get them in the mail.  They're adorable!  Aunt Bee and Uncle Blake brought Pei Wei over for dinner, since Matt was working.  They were out of town last weekend, so needed a little Reese love. ;)

*The little stinker hardly napped at all on Tuesday until I placed her next to me on the bed.  Two minutes later, this is what I saw.*

Seriously?! (And don't worry, I was folding laundry and watching her every second.  She was surrounded by pillows as well.)

Wednesday, Reese had her one month check-up.  She's in the 80th percentile for weight and the 70th percentile for height.  She weighs 10 lbs 8 ounces and is 21.5 inches long.  She had to get her second Hep B shot and did so good.  She let out a little cry and that was all.  (Thank goodness Daddy was there, because Mommy doesn't do well with shots AT ALL!)  She's a growing and healthy girl!!
We ran to Target after our appointment. (Reese has very sensitive skin, so we have to start using a specific type of baby wash, shampoo, and lotion.)  After Target, our sweet girl let us enjoy lunch at Cantina Laredo while she took a little nap.

Thursday, Matt had to work so Reese and I had another relaxing day at home. We made a quick run to Kroger and the post office and were home for the remainder of the day.  (I have to note that I felt like a million bucks on Thursday because Reese slept for 5.5 hours straight Wednesday night.  I sure hope it wasn't a fluke!)

Friday, Matt was off work and he'll be off for the next 5 days!!  YAY!!  He watched Reese while this Mama went to the spa to have a mani/pedi, eyebrow wax, and a spray tan in the morning.  (Thank you very much babe!)  We opened up Reese's savings account in the afternoon, grabbed a couple of gift cards for some friends, and enjoyed lunch at Lenny's.  I LOVE when Matt is at home with me!!  We stayed in Friday night and curled up to watch the Cardinals vs. the Giants.

*Milestone for Reese:  She slept in her cradle (which she has not been too fond of so far) last night from 11:45 - 4:00 and then went back down from 5:00 - 8:00!!  I think we're making progress people!

Reese Meets Her Nana and Papaw

We had a great weekend here in Little Rock!!  Friday afternoon, my wonderful Aunt Vicki and Aunt Patti drove my grandparents from Tulsa into town to meet Reese.  They were so sweet to bring food for dinner and cooked us manicotti, green bean casserole, salad, and my favorite chocolate chip cake.  We had the best night visiting, laughing, and loving on our sweet girl.  To make things even better, Vicki and Patti offered to stay with us and help with Reese through the night.  Matt and I both got two 3-hour stretches of uninterrupted sleep.  It was amazing!!

Saturday morning, Matt bought Krispy Kremes for everyone and then we ordered pizzas for lunch.  We just enjoyed our morning/afternoon of being together.  They had to head back to Tulsa Saturday late afternoon, but I can't express how much it meant to have them all here.

Nana and Papaw - we love you so much and appreciate you making the trip.  I know it was a long drive for you all and you're both probably exhausted and spending the next few days recovering, but we had the best time and Reese loved spending some time with her great-grands.

Aunt Vicki and Aunt Patti - thank you doesn't seem like enough.  You all are the best and I know after working all week and then making a 10+ hour round trip, you have to be beat!  Thank you for bringing Nana and Papaw, thank you for cooking an amazing meal for us Friday night, and thank you for watching our little girl so that Matt and I could catch up on some sleep.  We love you so much!!

Saturday night, Matt and I enjoyed a quiet night watching the Hogs beat Kentucky and LSU beat South Carolina.  It was a great night of football!  Sunday morning, we went to church and then to eat lunch afterwards.  Reese (again) was SO good.

All ready for church...Thanks Gigi (Gayle) for the toe blooms, we love them!

Sunday afternoon, we went on our first 2 mile walk as a family.  So thankful for a great way to end the beautiful weekend!

One Month Old

I cannot believe that our little girl is already ONE MONTH OLD!!!!  Where in the world has the time gone?  You are growing so much and have outgrown all of your newborn clothing.  You're wearing   0-3 months now and I can't believe it.  These pictures were taken on the 12th of October, even though I am a little late in posting.

We ordered cake balls to celebrate

Here are some things I want to remember about this phase....

  • You love to sleep on Daddy and me.  You curl up on your tummy and this is where you feel the safest and will sleep the longest.

  • You play opossum a lot.  We think you're asleep (like in the swing or something) and then you'll open one eye to see if we're still right there.  It cracks us up.
  •
  • You are in a deep sleep when both of your arms are up by your head and your mouth is slightly open.

  • You will grab hold of our fingers and hold on tightly, especially when I'm nursing or Daddy's giving you a bottle.
  •
  • Your baby coos are becoming more frequent and they melt my heart every time I hear them.
  • Your have the sweetest and most quiet baby snore - we love it!
  • Your eye contact is so good.  You'll look at someone when they're talking to you and follow them with your big blue eyes across the room.
  • You kick your legs all the time and you LOVE to stretch.  You stretch so much and it's adorable.
  • You lost your umbilical cord on 9/29, 15 days from when we came home from the hospital. (I didn't know you had even lost it, it was right after a bath.  I found Jovie chewing on it.  A total gross out moment for Mommy!)
  • You have gas ALL THE TIME!!  Bless your heart, your little tummy is still trying to work itself out.
  • You aren't crazy about your baths, but now that you can be immersed in the water, you don't cry and you're beginning to enjoy them more.
  • You are not a fan of diaper changes!!!

First Date Night!!

Matt and I had our first night out sans our sweet baby girl on Monday.  Aunt Bee babysat our munchkin and we can't thank her enough!  We had a great time enjoying a nice, quiet dinner at Yaya's.  We laughed about how tired we are and talked about Reese most of the time.  It was a wonderful night - thanks again Kyndall!!

Weekend with Mimi and First Sunday at Church

This weekend was a great weekend for us.  My mom (Mimi) came in town on Friday evening.  Matt had to work two 12-hour shifts on Thursday and Friday (9 to 9) and then was on call Saturday night, so Mom offered to come down and help with Reese.  She got into town around 7:00 and she and I went to Alley Oops for dinner.  Reese slept while we had the best time just catching up and laughing.  (I love those times!)  Mom was so great and took Reese for most of the night on Friday and Saturday.  I can't explain how nice it is to be able to sleep for more than 2 hours in a row.  Matt and I got up feeling more rested than we've felt since we've been home from the hospital.

Saturday, it was so cold and it rained for most of the day.  We had Game Day on the big screen, a delicious breakfast, and hot coffee in the Keurig.  We all curled up for the afternoon, listened to the thunder, and watched the Hogs bring home a WIN!!!  It was such a relaxing day!!  Mom made chicken spectacular for dinner and we enjoyed a cozy night and more football.

Sunday was our first day at church as a family of three!  Reese did SO good.  She slept the entire service and was great during brunch at Copeland's as well.

She would much rather sleep curled up on her tummy rather than her back. Yes, I know babies should sleep on their backs, but this is how she falls asleep on me EVERY night!  Oh how I love her!!

She also loves to sleep on her Daddy's big shoulder/arm

Mom left Sunday afternoon and it never fails that I cry.  I have the most amazing mother in the world and I pray every day that I can be half the mother she is for Reese.  She is so giving and ALWAYS puts others needs before her own.  She drives down here after working a full week and then literally stays up almost all night to hold, rock, and change our baby girl so that Matt and I can sleep. I can't imagine starting the journey of motherhood without her by my side.  I love you so much Mom!!!
