Costa Rica...Pura Vida!!

Matt and I haven't taken a trip together since the kids have been born. (We're not really counting that one night in Branson ;)).  Our last vacation away was when we were 6 months pregnant with Reese, and we spent a fantastic week in San Francisco and Half Moon Bay, CA. I have to say I had a little bit of anxiety leaving the kids, especially flying out of the country, because they are so young. However, I suppose none of us would get to experience life if we never left home.

Playa Conchal, Costa Rica was amazing!!! I cannot begin to describe how beautiful it is, and I hope some of my pictures do it a little bit of justice. It was absolutely wonderful!!

Matt and I flew in on Wednesday at noon, and just hung out on the beach and checked out all the resort amenities and wildlife.  We stayed in the cutest little bungalows!  That evening, we cleaned up for dinner at Cauri, the French restaurant. After delicious steaks, we headed down to the bar for live music.

Thursday was spent sleeping in, lying on the beach, and just relaxing. I actually took a nap, and I truly can't think of the last time THAT happened. Matt and I went kayaking in the ocean that afternoon and the weather was perfect. We were soaking it up. Thursday evening, we had dinner at the Italian restaurant, which was one of our favorites, then made our way to the bar for a late night cap.

Friday, we spent the entire day on an adventure tour through the rainforest. This was one of the most amazing things I have ever experienced. We started the day riding horses, then went tubing on white water rapids, and ended the day zip lining, repelling, and climbing through canyons. After all this, our driver drove us to the hot springs where we soaked in natural springs for about an hour.  It was the hottest water I have ever been in...they said it was around 95 degrees.

After getting back to the resort on Friday night, we cleaned up and went to dinner at the Mediterranean restaurant around 8:00 and then went back to our bungalow and crashed!!  We were absolutely exhausted!!

Saturday morning, Matt and I both got up and went to the gym. (It felt so good to workout for a solid hour). We then grabbed breakfast and laid on the beach until it was time for our next excursion.  We set sail on a 65 foot catamaran in the ocean for the afternoon and it was PERFECTION. This boat was amazing..... It was loaded down with tons of food, had an open bar, great music playing, and the weather was gorgeous. We went with a great group of people and relaxed all day, swam and snorkeled in the ocean, and enjoyed the most beautiful sunset. We even saw a pod of humpback whales that swam along side of us for about 45 minutes. It was paradise!!!

Saturday night, we came back to our bungalow and got cleaned up for dinner at the Asian restaurant (which was our favorite) and then went down to the Abalone bar for live music.  I'm going to be honest...after being in the sun all day, we were pretty beat. We were back to our bungalow by 11:00.

We spent Sunday morning walking along the beach one more time and loading our kiddos up with souvenirs. We ordered room service and were on a flight home at 1:00.  We were so excited to see Reese and Brooks!!  It was the most amazing place to visit and I'm so incredibly grateful for the experience. Pure Vida!!!
