Flo Rida * TLC * Nelly

Tuesday night we went to one of the best concerts at the amp.  Amanda, Cortney, Hannah and I met at Local Lime before the show for margaritas and dinner. Flo Rida opened and he was good.  He worked the crowd and has some great songs. TLC, however, was probably my favorite. I grew up loving all their music, and they sounded just the same as if you were driving around in your Honda, freshman year of college, jamming out to Scrubs.🙋🏻‍♀️

Nelly was the headliner and I loved it.  So. Much. Fun.

Out on a school night :)

A Wonderful Weekend Celebrating Nana

Well, we survived the first week of school. 🙌🏻  We will definitely get more into our groove as the week progresses with Brooks being in Bridge class at His House.  He is so excited!  We went to get his BTS haircut on Friday and some pretzels to celebrate a successful first week for Reese.  I had big plans for us to all go out to dinner Friday night, but we were so exhausted that it didn’t happen.  Matt and I both fell asleep after getting home from work, (yes, our children just fended for themselves for a few hours😬) so we just stayed home.

Saturday morning, we got up early and drove to Tulsa. We spent the morning at the OK Aquarium with the Harrison’s and had a blast!  This aquarium was pretty awesome.  It had a shark tunnel that was “super cool” (according to Brooks), the kids fed stingrays and turtles, they were able to pet nurse sharks AND stingrays, and there was a sea turtle that was probably my favorite. For being a small aquarium, it offered a lot of great stuff.

That afternoon, after lunch at Louie’s, we went to Aunt Vicki’s house to celebrate Nana.  We had so much fun swimming, laughing, eating cake, and just all being together.

We spent the night with Clay and Katie and just enjoyed catching up with them.  We left early Sunday morning to get back to meet Brooks' teachers for the new school year at His House.  This kid is SOO excited to start school.

Brooks’ First Day of School - Bridge Class

Well, he’s been waiting for over a week and couldn’t have been more excited that his school is now in session.  My sweet boy (5 years old) is going to Bridge class this year.  Being that he didn’t turn 5 until the end of July, we felt better waiting a year before starting Kindergarten.  I’m so proud of this sweet boy and I’m not going to lie...one more year of not being in school full time is ok with this Mama.  Praying for a wonderful year, Brooks Vaughn.

First Day of School for Reese

Reese started first grade on Tuesday, August 13.  After walking her to her classroom and praying for a wonderful day as I walked out the door, I was able to pick her up at 2:30 with a BIG SMILE on her face.  She had a great day!  I asked her what her favorite part of the day was and she said it was finding Harper, Rose, Elaria, and Addison on the playground. She was excited to eat with Claire at lunch.  These 6 girls were in class together last year and were just the sweetest.  I love that they look forward to finding each other every day.

That afternoon, we picked up Reese’s new Giant bicycle and she learned to ride a BIG bike.  She has been on a balance bike and jumped on this one and just took off.  She’s doing awesome!!

First Grade Open House and Tea

Reese is so excited and ready!  She will be at Evening Star Elementary, a brand new school in the Bentonville District. We went to open house last Thursday and walked around, getting familiar with her classroom, the bathroom, where the cafeteria and library were, and most importantly the playground. 😉. Her teacher this year is Mrs. Pulkrabek aka Mrs. P.  We have heard wonderful things about her and Reese is excited to get to know her better.  Bring on routine, new beginnings, and a fresh start to a great school year.  But first a BIG HUG for Ms. Cameron (AKA Mrs. Rippee). Oh how we love her!!!!❤️

Saturday morning, Cortney hosted a First Grade Kick-Off party for our little group of girls at church. These girls all go to different elementary schools, but get to see each other weekly in Bible class. They are just precious and all so excited. (Side note - Matt was on call so Brooks was a trooper and hung out with 14 ladies, not complaining once. 😉)

This kid...such a trooper!

Thanks for hosting an awesome BTS party, Cortney!!
