Hawaii - Part One

WHAT AN AMAZING WEEK!!!  BEST. VACATION. EVER.  Matt and I had the best time spending the last 7 days in Oahu.  We are now home and trying to get back into the groove of things (VERY HARD).  Below are a million pictures of our little get-away!

At the Denver airport, anxious to arrive...

Let the vacation begin...

Our amazing hotel...the Moana Surfrider

Our view, every day.

We started Saturday off with breakfast at Il Lupino.

Courtyard of our hotel, next to the ocean

We sat here often while having a drink and listening to the music.

Afternoon cocktails at Margaritaville

Dinner at The BeachHouse on the veranda at our hotel

Sunday, we spent ALL DAY lying on the beach.  I had my toes in the sand and a pina colada in hand :)  It was so relaxing to just read my NOOK and nap.

Handsome guy!

Sunday night we had reservations at Alan Wong's restaurant.  It was by far one of the best meals I have ever eaten.  They asked what we were here celebrating (apparently if you are visiting from AR, you have to have a special reason for being there.  I can't count how many times people asked us what the special occasion was) and we told them our anniversary is August 1, so I guess that's our reason. :)  They went all out at Alan Wong's, making sure we felt very special.

They even gave us personalized menus and signed them!

Monday we decided to go snorkeling at Hanauma Bay.  This was probably my favorite thing we did during the day.  There were so many beautiful fish!!

All the brown you see in the water are the coral reefs.  They're beautiful!

Monday afternoon we headed back to lay by the pool then enjoyed dinner at Hard Rock Cafe, just down the street.  Tuesday morning, we started our day at Pearl Harbor.  There is so much WWII history here and we enjoyed every minute of it.

One of the two anchors they pulled from the USS Arizona on Dec. 7 1941.

The Bowfin submarine that destroyed numerous Japanese subs during the war.

Driving up to the USS Arizona - the tomb of 1,771 soldiers.

The names of the soldiers on the USS Arizona who lost their lives

Oil still leaks to the top of the water from this ship (destroyed 70 years ago this December)

The USS Missouri, where the treaty between the US and the Japanese was signed.

Visiting here is a MUST if you get to come to Oahu.  It's so quiet and somber (as it should be).  Once again it reminds me how VERY THANKFUL I am for all the men and women who have put their country first.  I pray God blesses each one of them!
After Pearl Harbor, we went to the Punchbowl Cemetary where hundreds of men and women in the United States Armed Services are buried.

Stay tuned...lots more pictures to come!!
